    New Babies...weird white spots

My neighbor and I ordered two 7 wk old geckos and they came in on Tuesday. As I am currently at the beach I haven't seen them yet but she called yesterday to say that they had a white line around their mouths and a white spot on the hindquarters of one. She called the entire phone book of vets and found not only a reptile specialist but one that makes house calls. My immediate thought was that it was a fungal infection, but the vet said to wait a day or two to see if the spots increased in number or size. Barring any extra spots what would explain these white spots on very red little babies that weren't there before? Any thoughts are appreciated!

    Re: New Babies...weird white spots

I purchased them from Sweet Arrow Reptiles, but Don is a great guy and has been very supportive. He has offered to pay for any treatment if they are ill and has asked to be kept abreast of their progress. I have to emphasize I have not seen them yet. My neighbor has them and she is still relatively new to cresteds. I will be more comfortable once I have seen them myself but their have been no new spots as of now. I am on vacation but will return home tomorrow. Hopefully, all will be well!

some cresteds have a white line around their mouth that is just a part of their normal coloration like this:

maybe that is what she is seeing? some also do have white spots that are similar to the black dalmation spots--kind of like the spots that spice has on his sides in that pic. hopefully that is all that she is seeing. let us know once you get a chance to see them for yourself.

Thanks! I also noticed the white line around my three's mouthes as well. I had not noticed white spots on mine but I am relieved to see your pic. I will check them out tomorrow! Thanks for the post and some mild sense of relief until I get home!!!
