    ha ha.....what have I done??

Since I have been breeding mice, I have been feeding prekilled mice for the last few feedings since I have them. Now, my female bp will no longer take f/t mice (while my male still eats anything in sight). I just think that is funny. It is no big deal because I was going to keep her on p/k mice anyways because her feeding responce is SO much greater on p/k for some reason(she would eat and eat....if i let her). I kinda like feeding freshly killed mice....all the benefits of feeding f/t and live all in one. Now I just have to keep enough mice around to feed my bps.

Ha ha... i took some measurements yesterday too August 2004 hatchlings

my female is 650 gram completely empty and 39 inchs long (i have a feeling she is going to be a big girl )

my male is about 450 grams and 34 in. long.

Hehe - I know what you mean - I am in the same boat - but with rats.

We had some leftover mice at one point that decided to start their own family and we tried keeping the bunch of them - but the seemed a bit more agressive (to each other) than the rats and were 10x stankier. I had to "contract out" the rat care to our middle son there just got to be so many of them.

With only having the one bp at this point I actually find p/k easier than remembering to thaw out "supper" for Baby. We have a spare little cage so I just grab a nice fresh mouse on Saturday from the local pet store, feed it up really well for a couple of days and then make hubby dispatch it (isn't that what hubby's do????). Our snake seems to like em though I guess when we have a few more snakes we'll have to go f/t for convenience if nothing else.

Ya...i like not having to defrost too. Remember You could always breed them It is not that complicated. I started breeding mice about a month ago and It has been working great.

Thawing can be a process all in itself - and if you have a bunch of critters you'll need to give up some freezer room for the ratsicles. I at least know that the (unintentional colony of) rats they all get p/k have been well cared for and well fed. Though on second thought 100 frozen rodents take up so much less space than 100 live ones . . . and the frozen ones don't need to be fed . . or have their enclosures cleaned.

Okay do NOT laff at this (okay you may turn from the computer screen and snicker but absolutely NO guffaws!)...I Joanna am...*gulp*...afraid of mice. Yes me with a mouse eating snake and rats as pets get the creeps from scurrying mice. I will deal with mice in order to feed the snakes. I adore our rats. I am not about to have any of those lil scurrying creepy nippy mice in my house doing the nasty to make even more of the lil scurrying creepy nippy things. It's enough to have them for the short term *shudder* till Baby wolves them down.

IMO the only good mouse is the one making a nice bump in my snake's belly

P.S. Okay go ahead and laff before you bust!

Sorry but that's just too funny .... lol Ok, I'm better now. At least you have the hubby to take care of the unsavory stuff. They're good for things every now and again, reminds us why we keep them around

Re: ha ha.....what have I done??

You don't wanna see me if a june bug is anywhere nearby, inside or outside....now that isn't even close to funny! (though hubby thinks it's a real hoot to watch me runnnnnnnnnn - that man of mine is a sicko LOL).

In the end tho when it comes to the mice, I'll just deal with it if Mike's not around for some reason. Dislike doesn't stop me from much when it comes to my family or my pets.

Funny tho how one develops such wierd aversions to some things isn't it.
