Im kinda in a situation thats stressing me out right now.

My friend sarah called me yesterday asking me if i could let go of one of my many ten gallons and i said "yeah, what for ?"

And she said that one of our youthgroup leaders had somebody go to thier house and litterally say to him "here, take this snake, i dont know what to do with it" and so .....being the the nice guy he is, he took the snake. Right now he said its sitting in a tupperware in his kitchen.

So thats why My friend called me.....for the tank.

Im going to have him come over here tomorrow with the snake. He said he didnt know what type of snake it was so he wants me to tell him. He doesnt know anything about snakes and doesnt know if he is going to be able to take care of it.He asked me if i wanted the snake but right now i dont have permission.

My mom said he could give it to me and then i will have to find a home for it.....thats going to be hard for me to do.

I think its going to boil down to that, so does anyone have any advice for me in finding this little un-identified snake a home ??

i think first you need to see what kind of snake it actually is. that alone will make all the difference in finding it a home. it may turn out to be something that someone here or someone close to you would like to have but you won't really be able to advertise it until you see what you are actually getting.

Look into area reptile rescues before he comes over, but really the first thing to do is figure out what kind of snake it is, and of course keep it far from yours in case it has mites. Once you know what it is, you might be able to find someone at school or in your youth group who wants it or place it through a rescue.

if it is a native species, you could always release it back into the wild...just a thought.

Hm.. if it were me, and it were not possible to release it back into the wild, I would donate it to this local nature preserve we have by us, Beaver Meadows. Is there a place like that near you? They have a big room of enclosures where people can stop in and look at the herps, and they take great care of them.
I would figure out just where the person got the snake, how and when. If it was not in captivity for a long time, maybe you could release it somewhere where it naturally occurs. I know that this is illegal in some places though.
