Re: Yafe Is Gone
Sorry to hear this sad news...
I remember when you got him and all the issues you had to go through. Can't believe that was almost 9 years ago!

Re: Yafe Is Gone
Thank you to all for the kind words and thoughts. We are still in utter shock.
The preliminary pathology came back and was consistent with leukemia/lymphoma. Waiting on the final report, but as expected, the other reptiles should not be at risk.

At least it's not something you have to worry about being contagious. But you're right to be "in shock".

Re: Yafe Is Gone
Damn!!
This is bad news and for whatever reason I checked in today.
Maybe a vibe or something.
I know he had a rough start and MUCH TO YOUR CREDIT you gave him a great life. I would have to look back at my posts to see the age of my Jewel, but it was a similar situation except she was gone when I went to check her one morning.
It's a tough loss. I got another carpet but she is nothing like my first.
I'm sad for you. It is part of the pet package. We sign up for it and we often feel the pain of the loss. We're on our 5th dog, and we'll keep doing it until we can't care for them anymore.
Give yourself some time. Maybe a new carpet will help you heal, and maybe you don't to deal with it.
All that said,
I'm sorry for your loss. Just remember, you did a great job with him and he had a good 9 years because of you.

Re: Yafe Is Gone
It seems we did right by Yafe. Still hurts.
From the vet:
"We got final results back from Yafe. Everything was consistent with myelogenous (arising from the bone marrow) leukemia with no evidence of infection. There was also a ruptured aneurysm at the heart base, which was likely secondary to the leukemia and was probably the cause of his sudden decompensation.
So, basically, all this was caused by cancer and was nothing to do with anything you guys did and there is no need to worry about anything spreading to the rest of your animals."

I'm so glad that you got that closure. It was totally out of your caring hands, just as I assumed.
