    Carra

We lost Carra, our final (of 3) Leopard Geckos that I got from the same breeder in early 2013. She was born October 2012 and passed 2/10/26. I think we gave her a great life but it is always hard to say goodbye.

She had been doing great but Monday night I noticed her front left leg was not moving right. I was afraid she had a stroke because it was kind of dragging. I called the vet and got an appointment Tuesday. Initially the vet thought she might have dislocated her shoulder and said she looked really good otherwise. We decided to do a CT Scan to see what type of dislocation it might be and if there was something we could do beyond pain meds until it got better. Oddly, she didn't seem to be in much pain.

When we got the scan results the vet was shocked. He said she had an aneurysm in her chest/shoulder area and was bleeding out internally. She would not last much longer.

We did not want her going out like that and euthanized her.

The vet said he has seen aneurysms in other reptiles but had not seen one in a Leopard Gecko. I imagine in many cases they just pass and it goes unnoticed or a scan is never done.

    In any event, RIP Carra.

Here is picture from when she as young and vibrant. At 13 she wasn't quite as deep orange and bright as in this picture. She was still a good looking lady but this is the picture I wanted to post.

I'm so sorry. She was really pretty.

Unfortunately my first snakes and lizards are also aging and we've lost a few to cancer this year, with another two diagnosed with it and on palliative care until they tell me it's that time.

So sorry for your loss. She had a good long life at least- & very pretty too.

I am sorry your crew is aging and you've lost some. It's hard. Our animals give us so much joy and also can create such sorrow when they pass.

    Hang in there.
