Reptile Super Show Anaheim
There are so many reptiles, amphibians, plants, and supplies at the Reptile Super Show! See for yourself this weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center. Thank you to Ramy and the Super Show crew for their continued USARK and herp community support.
The USARK benefit auction will open Saturday night at 5:00 p.m., right after the show. Come support our work to protect your freedom to have reptiles and amphibians as pets.
The auction is FREE, and everyone is welcome. We appreciate everyone who donates and attends, as USARK would not be possible without these auctions and our supporters.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We always need volunteers at shows. Please email vanessa@usark.org if you want to help. Thank you!

"The Reptile Super Show is meant to educate the public about pets they may otherwise never get the chance to know, but we are also passionate about captive breeding and keeping the populations of some of the world’s most interesting creatures alive and well. Educational, fun, and no doubt exciting, the Reptile Super Show is something everyone should visit at least once. If you’re not a reptile fan when you arrive, we promise you that you will leave as one."

ALERT: Lincoln County, NC
UPDATE 9/8/25: The Commissioners reported that the “exotic animal” section was pulled from the agenda because work continues on that proposal (presumably due to opposition to the previous draft). Only the other amendments were introduced tonight (see link below), and those will have a vote on September 15. The current exotic animal ordinance remains in place.
UPDATE 9/2/25: The draft has been released, and a meeting has been set for Monday, September 8. The new proposal bans ferrets, most aquarium fish, sugar gliders, Rock iguanas, and more. It has no grandfather provision for currently owned pets, and many species are in limbo as they are listed as neither allowed nor banned.

UPDATE 8/6/25: The Town Council voted, and the latest proposal passed its first reading. There should be a final vote at the next Town meeting in two weeks (August 20). The Council considered the information presented from stakeholders over the past few months, with one Council member stating, “Boy, did we get an education.” The draconian nature of the first draft has greatly evolved into its current version. Thank you to those who joined USARK in providing the Council with the information they needed to write a practical ordinance.Full details at https://usark.org/25in/.

We will post updates as they become available.CPW Staff did present three potential approaches to future regulations, but no formal proposal has been submitted.

ALERT: Southern Hognose ESA Listing Posted 8/28/25: The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has proposed to list the southern hognose snake (Heterodon simus), as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). FWS has found that the southern hognose faces serious threats from habitat loss and degradation as a result of land conversion and fragmentation causing loss of connectivity between populations, road mortality, invasive species (red ants, feral hogs, and cogongrass), and climate change. A 60-day comment period begins on August 29, 2025.
