Daytona NRBE hits 36! + updates

National Reptile Breeders' Expo (AKA Daytona)
#36 is this weekend! It only happens once a year, and that time has come again. NRBE has Friday Night Turtle Talks, two days of reptile show, a huge benefit auction, hundreds of vendor tables, and Daytona shenanigans. There are loads of reasons why it is still going strong after 36 years.

AUCTION: The NRBE auction is Saturday night at 8:00! If you have attended, you know the auction is massive! It is located at the top of the escalator in the Hilton hotel's north lobby. There will be HUNDREDS of donations. You never want to miss this auction!

USARK and USARK FL will be at the show to answer any questions and inform you about what is happening. Both groups look forward to seeing you.

Volunteers needed: Email info@usarkfl.net if you want to help with auction collection or setting up the auction after the show. If you want to help USARK for an hour or two on Sunday afternoon, email vanessa@usark.org. Thank you!

All show details can be found atwww.reptilebreedersexpo.com and www.facebook.com/NationalReptileBreedersExpo.

Show Schedule (VIP Passes are available for early show entry):

Friday 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM Turtle Talks at the Daytona Hilton Hotel
    Saturday 10:00 - 5:00 - NRBE Reptile Show
Saturday night, 8:00 PM USARK Florida/USARK Benefit Auction (Hilton hotel)

UPDATE 8/6/25: The Town Council voted, and the latest proposal passed its first reading. There should be a final vote at the next Town meeting in two weeks (August 20). The Council considered the information presented from stakeholders over the past few months, with one Council member stating, “Boy, did we get an education.” The draconian nature of the first draft has greatly evolved into its current version. Thank you to those who joined USARK in providing the Council with the information they needed to write a practical ordinance.

    Wisconsin Herp Rule Review
7/16/25: The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is initiating a comprehensive review of all herp regulations in an “effort to clarify and update existing regulations to better inform the public, law enforcement, and department staff regarding allowable activities, improve enforceability, and implement current management goals.” There may be additional rule changes reasonably related to what was mentioned prior.
The Department anticipates a public hearing (virtual) in October 2025.
