    Regarding lamp testing, we have access to cards (credit card-sized) that allow us to check whether the lamp is still emitting UVB. You simply place the card 5 cm away for 10 seconds to get the result. It's reusable up to 500 times and costs around €7 for two (Repti Zoo 'UV Sensor' test cards). They don't measure the UV level but do indicate whether the lamp is still emitting or not.

    They're available in the States too (link). Assuming they work, I guess it's better than not testing at all. Useless, though, if you're concerned about too much UVb.
