    FedEx?

A couple weeks ago, SYR reported technical issues connecting to FedEx, and has since discontinued offering FedEx as an option and only offer . (They're also claiming, against all public evidence, that "most" UPS trucks have AC and this limitation is actually for the best -- so they're scrambling for damage control.)

Also, Rainbow Mealworms is apparently experiencing the same situation -- a couple days of "experiencing some issues with FedEx", and now a removal of FedEx as a shipping option from their site.

All other reptile shipping label providers seem to be operating as normal regarding FedEx.

Is this just a coincidence, or does anyone know if something is up with FedEx?

Not about shipping animals of any kind, but my own personal experience with package deliveries is that FEDEX is by far the worst, at least in my area. Like "can't read the address & don't care where I leave it" employees. One time, FEDEX left a huge pkg on my porch for my next door neighbor, & I called the delivery guy before he got away, telling him & pointing at which neighbor it went to, only he went the OPPOSITE direction to dump it again in another wrong place. Clueless.

The 'FedEx v UPS' debate does seem to vary quite a bit based on location. Where I am, FedEx is -- in my opinion and experience -- the better and it isn't even close.

Part of this comes down to my personal preferences about drop-off and pickup locations; FedEx and UPS have somewhat different models regarding both Ship Centers/Customer Centers and independent service locations, and I just happen to prefer FedEx's model (even if UPS's model is more convenient on paper).

Part of this is the more relevant fact that UPS's rescheduling of delivery dates is very frequent for me, sometimes even after tracking says the package is on the truck for delivery. I don't recall ever having that (on truck, rescheduled anyway) happen with FedEx. But to be fair, the only problem I've ever had with UPS overnight (which are incoming; I don't ship out via UPS overnight) have to do with their Customer Centers' limited hours and me going there to pick up a hold package at a time of day when any reasonable business would be open but they're not.
