Here is another photo of the middle cage in the 3 stack.
You can see the ledges stick out and intrude into the cage but they don't take ground space.
The other cages have thinner backgrounds that are basically for display purposes. I use perches in every cage.
And yes, the Royal does use the perches now and then.
