Trouble with humidity

I've been keeping his humidity around 55-62% pretty consistently since he was a baby, now for the past couple months it's suddenly stuck in the 40s, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've tried to fix the issue with aluminum tape, but it doesn't get any higher than 43%. I've been very worried about his health, I do not want him to get an RI. I've always misted the corners, which I also recently learned isn't great, so I started a method I read that said to wet the bedding with a cup of water, mix it in, and then add a second layer, that didn't seem to work either. However, I don't have a humidity gun I can put over the bedding, so it's possible I may not be getting an accurate reading.

Two things to try:

1. Create a humid hide. The entire enclosure does not require optimal humidity.
2. Increase the surface area size of your water bowl/feature so that it adds more humidity to the air.

A description and a pic of your set up will help us advise you better. Be sure to include information on the types of heat sources you use and how they are regulated.

Sometimes that's caused by a malfunctioning meter (which is very common -- they're pretty easy to wreck with water contact, or dirt/dust clogging). I'd recommend getting two more quality digital meters (one to check the possibly broken one, and a second to adjudicate a disagreement).
