    @gobuchul AI art is a detriment to the art industry, not a 'modern tool'. Stealing thousands of images to train a computer to be able to create your work is disgusting. There's no merit to it. If you can't afford a luxury you don't steal it.
    AI imagery is so pervasive already that actual medical journals now have to deal with the slop created being used as illustrations and making no sense because they don't have an actual artist on hand to fix the mistakes.

    The only bright side to it would be seeing that AI art cannot be copyrighted, an artist can come along and take that AI art and recreate it into a new work with a copyright.
    I think it's the responsibility of medical journal publishers to make a quality product. If AI cannot do that, then they must employ artists. If they do not, then rational people will not buy their journals. I also don't believe in intellectual property, so the art theft argument is not compelling to me.

    I agree that artists editing AI images (which is clearly what this very thread is about...) is good.
