    Dead or alive

    Took a breeders advice and cut my eggs on day 58 probably should not have but took advice from someone who has been breeding for 20 years today is day 62 and none have come out of the eggs. There is no smell at all so I guess that is a good sign. NO idea though if they all are dead or not. Still plenty of clear liquid in the eggs. Any advice?

    How lucky do you feel? Cutting an egg early isn't a guaranteed death sentence, but, it usually increases the odds of mortality.

    If you are confident that you kept the temps perfectly stable and even between 88-90F then @58 days *most clutches* (not all) should be developed 'enough'. Don't touch them.

    If you think your eggs could have been incubated at lower or uneven temperatures-then some of them can take as long as 85 days to fully develop, and cutting at 58 days is a problem due to desiccation/dehydration and/or contamination (bacteria/mold). In this event: My only recommendation would be to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and then close up the egg shells as best you can and then apply sterile band-aids over the cuts. Take a clean paper towel and add some *distilled water* to it to make it *damp* (not wet) and then lightly drape it over the eggs. Minimize the exposure to the environment by only opening your incubator to check on the eggs briefly once every two days.
