Bananas and coral glows always have a very small chance to throw the opposite gender. That's how the original females happened since the first few generations were all males. It's just fairly rare. Garrick of Royal Constrictor Designs had a clutch where I think a male maker threw 2 females.
My banana and coral glows are all females at the moment, so I haven't gotten to play the maker game since they throw both sexes.
Over time as bananas and coral glows are crossed out, I wonder if maybe there's more chances to have the opposite sex hatch, but not 100% sure. It just seems like it's more of a common occurrence now than it used to be.
As for your little one, looks like a beautiful Mojave black pastel.

I think that there are just more banana ball pythons out there so more people breeding and reporting. For a male maker to sire a female banana, there has to be a crossover between the male's X and Y sex chromosomes. That swaps the piece of chromosome with the banana gene from the malemaker's Y chromosome to the X chromosome. And I am not aware of any mechanism that increases the number of crossovers.
