It's been a few years now since this thread was started, & I'll add that one of my male Trans Pecos rat snakes is actually at least 4 1/2' long now. He's now the longest one I've had, so for anyone trying to plan what size home these snakes need, if yours ends up as big as my one male is now, you might want a 50 gal. tank instead of a 40. As with all snakes, they grow their whole lives, & mine are currently 14 & 15 years old. (It was a pleasant surprise for me today when I saw these threads had come back to life.)
