ReptiEarth vs Reptichip
Has anyone used ReptiEarth in their enclosures? I usually use Reptichip but made the mistake in ordering ReptiEarth which is very fine and looks to be messy. It will be for my Boa enclosures.

The worst part of it is just how dusty it is when dry. Otherwise it's pretty similar as far as like odors and a bit better at keeping fluids from being a mess since it will absorb faster. The worst is just it can get kicked in the water bowl much easier. Keeping it damp will help cut down on how kickable it is.
Quite a few keepers talk about mixing chip and dirt to get the best of both. I've done it myself as well. If you mix it, it works pretty well since it will help some of the humidity retention in the habitat for me.
There's no harm in trying to see if you like it. It may not be for everyone depending on how you like to care for your noodle.

I've tried it & didn't much like it, but mixed with chips is a good compromise. That would add texture & traction for the snakes too, whereas just the "earth" alone it's more easily pushed around.

Thanks everyone. I was just a little concerned there might be some health concerns with how fine it is. I'll try it once and if there is an issue, I'll buy a a bag of the Reptichip to mix it with.

One thing you may see is that the fine stuff ends up in their mouth & nostrils easily.

Yea, that was my concern. Or stuck to their body.

Yup. In the wild, they go through stuff like that too, but not exclusively, as in captivity. In nature, all the "other stuff" on the ground helps to clean off the fine stuff, as does rain & water immersion. Snakes can't cough or spit, so for them, it's like a mouth full of peanut butter.
