    leopard gecko viv temps

Hi so I have my leopard gecko on her natural substrate now and she also has some rock stacks... I put her on a chromalux bulb for heat, and the rocks are getting up to 90-95 no problem, but the air temp inside her hideouts is closer to 75-80, and even when I crank up the rheostat all the way so the rocks are up to 110, the hideouts air temp still stays at 80-81. What air temp am I even going for inside her warm hideout, and if that temp is right does it matter if the rest of warm side is at 110? so confused.

You should look into an undertank heater with a thermostat for belly heat.
I'm unfamiliar with the chromalux bulbs, but it sounds like a full spectrum? Leopard geckos are nocturnal so if the light is too bright they may not come out very often because of it. Belly heat is more important to them than air temp and daylight basking. If the belly heat in the hide is at 89 degrees, they'll be happy and digest properly.

I was gonna do that but I thought it wouldn’t be natural with the loose substrate if she burrowed down and it got hotter the lower she went. I thought it might confuse and stress her??? Especially with the glass right there? And yeah, chromalux is full spectrum. That was the one recommended by Todd at light your reptiles.
