this also seems to imply nesting behaviors which would also imply high intelligence since, if i’m not mistaken, nesting behaviors in snakes has been taken as an indicator of this

I'd be curious to see published comments on this connection. Nest building and maternal incubation are hard wired adaptive traits and are not learned. Specific adaptive traits are a very different thing than generalized problem solving, self control, and the ability to learn novel behaviors from conspecifics and through environmental manipulation.
