I have used some of those 50 cent bowls that you get at Walmart for hides for my hatchlings. I cut a hole in them using a soldering iron. Works great for thick plastics.. yeah I think it would be too much work to try to make a window. I know some people use the solid gray bens in the factory snake racks. They probably do not need the light but it just seems like a quality of life issue to me.

Another system I considered was building one with doors on the front that open down instead of sliding tubs. I was going to use clear plexiglass for the fronts. But as I was thinking about it it would make cleaning a pain especially if I made them 8 or 9 in tall and 24 in deep.
