    Since he can reach it, the top of the hide is best. That way he doesn't get up there and burn since it will be hotter there than under the hide.

    Also, make sure not to use any type of tape in the enclosure. You can always try a dollop of aquarium silicone to help keep the probe wire in place. The silicone needs to cure for at least a day before it goes back inside. And directly on the probe can interfere with readings, so just on the wire to hold it there.
