It depends on the morph you are trying to identify, but the top of the head is important for a lot of them. Having a good side view of the head that includes the back portion where the stripes meet the neck is really helpful for others. Then as much side pattern as you can manage on either side of the body with the snake as straight as possible helps view pattern best, but a good top view helps see the dorsal striping well too. In the case of this particular snake, the top of the head would be most helpful.
