    Ball Python and Hair

I know this is kinda weird, but when I handle my ball python and his face touches my arm hairs he constantly flinches. He flinches even more when he’s traveling from the direction of my hand up to my shoulder (this is the opposite way your arm hairs fall so they stand up more when he rulings in this direction). He’s still only a few months old and still shy, so I’m not sure if this is just a stage he’s going to get through. I don’t blame him from constantly flinching because I’d imagine it tickles to have little hairs rubbing on your face. I made this post to ask if others have experienced this. Is it just a thing when they’re small and still shy, or do the arm and leg hairs always bother them a little and make them jump. I should also mention that I’m a teen male, I’m not super hairy by any means, I have just as much hair as any other guy has lol.

i got my ball python used to me touching her head at a young age. Most don't like getting touched on their head, so that's probably all it is. My snake just backs away a bit and continues whatever she was doing, so i feel she's ok with me doing it but whos to say none of us are snakes

My girl used to do this when she was really small. I'm not sure if it's arm hair that bothers them or if it just triggers headshyness in general, because she'd also weave between my fingers and then scare herself when she saw a finger in a place she wasn't expecting it, I guess. I think it's just a thing when they're very small and not as used to handling; my girl completely outgrew it after a few months and now it doesn't seem to bother her at all.

Many of my snakes will do that. A few have even bit me because of it. I've watched them be tickled.... Think about it..... And then slowly bite me. Just a little hey what's that kinda of bite.

Your ball pythons would bite for this reason lol? Doesn’t seem like something a ball python would do.

Apparently humans are "creepy" to snakes...who knew? When everything in the world is new to them, they do scare easily though. Just their instincts to be cautious & stay alive.

I have the opposite "problem" by the way: I have long hair & snakes like to hide in it, like it's some field of tall grass or something?

I can not recall my Ball biting for that reason. She's got me before but I really don't remember how. I do remember my GTP and BRB getting me like that.
