    Temperature fluctuation woes

It's been close to a week since my BP moved to his temporary tub setup and I've been having issues with the ambient temperature. Utilizing a CHE hanging over the tub and I can't get the thing to stay around the recommended 80 degrees and it instead is either in the mid 70's to way too hot in the low 90's no matter how many times I adjust the thermostat up and down. Thankfully it's only one isolated spot that deals with these fluctuations as my heat gun reads everything else as stable (mid 70's on the cool side and 90 on the UTH side) and I've not noticed any stress behavior from the snake; in fact I think he's happy now that he can fully conceal himself (his old log hides were not doing the job anymore). But nonetheless this issue is bothersome.

Can you post a pic of the setup?

Is the tstat proportional or on/off?

    Where is the probe?

What kind of fixture is the CHE in?

Is the CHE on a lamp stand, string, clamp?

    Got some pics.

The thermostat I'm using. Not super great but it's what I could afford at this time.

And the window right above it is a basement window well so there's no sunlight involved.

EDIT: the probe is inside the enclosure suctioned to the back wall of the tub. Tried putting it under the substrate but that didn't work well either, and just putting it out in the open means it'll just get pushed around inevitably.

Tape the probe to the top of the lid directly under the CHE......ON THE OUTSIDE. A piece of duct tape or foil tape would be preferred. This will give you the greatest control of the CHE with that tstat and help you get it dialed in.

Tape the wire just behind the probe and not the probe head itself.

Did as suggested and I'm already seeing improvement after a few hours. Many thanks.
