    A large hide over the UTH will also help to "hold the warmth in". But do stop over-heating him. And don't heat more than a fourth of the floor with UTH. (depending on how cold your house is, it might not even need that much)

    I have lowered the temp on his thermostat to 87 and I might just retire the heat lamp for a bit and see if that helps. Thank you all for the help!

    I'm hoping for a good update one of these days! And keep in mind that king snakes are very comfortable with an ambient temperature of about 82*- lower at one side (like 72-75* would be fine), & a little warmer at the other (87* sounds good). I think you'll have a happier king snake.
