We have a full grow male carpet who is just over six feet. I don't think they get much over seven feet, tops. Females get a foot or so longer.
They're semi-arboreal and they do like to climb/perch. Mine is in a 6'x18"x24" enclosure and is usually coiled up on top of his driftwood jungle gym under the DHP.
