Highest surface temps

What do you think I should do? I mean my snake is in my basement and it’s always a solid 68 degrees. That’s why I’m having to run 2-3 heat emitters. I have all of them set to 79-80 so they turn off and on. It seems like only one certain spot hits 90-92.7 Wondering if I put the water dish in that spot if it would eliminate that issue. Cause the rest of the tank is 88-78 surface temps.

I would think that would turn the water into a hot tub. I personally would not try to fix it that way.

KMG might be right about this making the water too warm. If I read that right, apparently you're having trouble keeping enough warmth in the tank that's in a chilly basement, so in order to lower the heat a little, you might instead try insulating the enclosure on the sides & back, & on the bottom to the extent possible, if you haven't already done so.

Honestly I thought the same but my other waters were cool. I can definitely monitor the water just in case though. But I dropped the ambient temp to pretty much 79 throughout the tank. Possibly may hit 80. It seems to keep that hot spot down. Is 79 across the board ambient too cold?

No, not at all, it's fine.

79 is fine. Like I said my ambient temps are usually lower than that. With that my Ball hardly ever uses her UTH.

That’s what my breeder told me as well. 78-79 ambient temps is what he has his at. Then I look online and watch YouTube and you get thousands of different temps. I hear 78 is way too cold and keep it at 82 and blah blah blah. It’s so confusing cause everyone’s different

I have been keeping mine like they are for many years. I have several snakes that prefer lower temps so I am not worried about my Ball at those same temps, low 70s. She has a UTH so her heat is always available.

Personally anything under 71 for me is too low. 75 is what I shoot for but a few degrees either direction doesn't worry me. You can see that I have a diverse group so I have to make many snakes happy. So far what I do works great.

I keep my home cold, 68 or lower at night. Before I had a snake room I need two heat sources over top my tank but still needed help. I added thick art paper to the back and sides which raised my temps a couple degrees. Also added a cardboard cutout to the top that I wrapped in foil. Had cutouts for the heat sources while covering the rest.

Sounds identical to me! It’s 68-69 during summer. I have to close my ac vent downstairs or it will be too cold. I have insulation on all sides of the tank but and bumped it up a little from before
