Highest surface temps

I have my ambient temps at 79-80 in my entire tank. Hot spot controlled by thermostat at 90 under the hide. Directly under my heat emitters it looks like the warmest spot in the tank is about 92-93. What’s the hottest surface temp a snake can touch?

I'd keep your surface temps. at or below 90*- 91* at the most. Bear in mind that not all temp. guns or thermometers & thermostats are equally-accurate.

Don't rely on what a thermostat is set to- do an independent reading of all surfaces a snake may contact. Heat can build up, especially with multiple heat sources in use full or part time, & especially under hides or on top of furnishings from heat above.

What do you think I should do? I mean my snake is in my basement and it’s always a solid 68 degrees. That’s why I’m having to run 2-3 heat emitters. I have all of them set to 79-80 so they turn off and on. It seems like only one certain spot hits 90-92.7 Wondering if I put the water dish in that spot if it would eliminate that issue. Cause the rest of the tank is 88-78 surface temps.

You could try that, sure; in fact, it will help keep the humidity up also. Good idea!

Just turn down the heater that is creating that hot spot. Telling us more of what exactly you are using that is creating that spot may help.

I have none of my hot spots set higher than 88. Snake room stays between 74-79 throughout the year but most regularly stays at 75-77, as that is my target.

I would think that would turn the water into a hot tub. I personally would not try to fix it that way.

KMG might be right about this making the water too warm. If I read that right, apparently you're having trouble keeping enough warmth in the tank that's in a chilly basement, so in order to lower the heat a little, you might instead try insulating the enclosure on the sides & back, & on the bottom to the extent possible, if you haven't already done so.

Honestly I thought the same but my other waters were cool. I can definitely monitor the water just in case though. But I dropped the ambient temp to pretty much 79 throughout the tank. Possibly may hit 80. It seems to keep that hot spot down. Is 79 across the board ambient too cold?

I keep my home cold, 68 or lower at night. Before I had a snake room I need two heat sources over top my tank but still needed help. I added thick art paper to the back and sides which raised my temps a couple degrees. Also added a cardboard cutout to the top that I wrapped in foil. Had cutouts for the heat sources while covering the rest.

No, not at all, it's fine.
