I very genuinely appreciate the forethought you put into your serpent acquisitions, WrongPython. And not without good reason by any means. I think, based on my own experience, that you’d grow into a bcc or bco quite readily given your experiences with both of your boas.
I do not fault you by any stretch of the imagination for being weary though. I fully anticipate that my larger Boa critters could give me a reality check once they achieve terminal size/velocity, but am also hopeful and confident that I will continue to learn their mannerisms at that size and prevent/be prepared for any mishaps that may occur.
Definitely an apples to oranges comparison, but I find both of my Boas infinitely more manageable than either of the retics I’ve kept. Carpets much more agreeable with me without a doubt as well.
I wholeheartedly respect and admire your decision to keep animals that you find to be within the comfortable confines of your keeping abilities for both their benefit and your own. I wish we all, including myself sometimes, had such fortitude.
