My two cents: I have a KSB and the only time he has ever given me pause is when he decided he was old enough (at barely a year!) to go on a spring mating fast and didn't eat for several months. This year I was ready for it and it isn't a problem. He's calm and has never struck, eats well the rest of the time, and cleaning up after him is a snap. The only handling issue I have with him is that KSBs aren't "coilly" snakes, and he can't hang on to you like a bp can.
