propping up the enclosure
My enclosure is flush with the table it sits on, so there is no space for the heat from the UTH to dissipate. What should I put under the tank to allow for such a space?

Personally, I use thick peel & stick rubber weather-stripping sold in any hardware store. I install it on all the bottom edges of my tanks, leaving a few small gaps for the UTH to breathe. This has the advantage of not allowing your tank or enclosure to slide off whatever it's on. I used to live in earthquake country, & you never know anyway (some places allow fracking & that also causes earthquakes), but in So. Calif. it definitely saved my snakes' homes, & quite possibly the snakes too.

That works too!
Keep in mind, you don't need much venting. When using a thermostat and setting to proper temps, a UTH won't get hot enough to damage pretty much anything.
