I’ve had two black Rat snakes over the years and both loved climbing..
The youngster used to ambush me by dropping down from the viv ceiling when I changed the water .... it was only about 15” long at the time
The other was a huge ( I felt ) Jet Black male over 5’ long and it was always at the top of the big vivarium.. I don’t recall seeing it on the floor... ever !
