Based on recent experience, I would add the following advice:
Have your phone battery fully charged - in fact, leave it in the charger - before a weather event. If your power does go out then report the outage to your power company and ask to have updates sent to your phone. That way you'll know how long the outage is likely to last and if the predicted date/time for the service to be restored changes, you'll know immediately and can adjust your plan to shelter in place versus take your critters somewhere warmer.
