    I am an electrician and I dont exactly understand what you have going on thats the issue, but it doesn't sound like the house electrical is the problem. If the circuit was overloaded it would trip a breaker or blow a fuse, up until that point it works. Same with the surge protector, it works until it melts. what exactly are you doing that isn't working?
