Every 3 days is actually a great schedule until they are a out 15 to 20 grams because they have a high metabolism and the prey item is meaningless it's just they need to be fed a lot more before being released, I don't even let mine go anymore until they are 15 grams and really bullet proof.
One more thing when you offer food don't off with tongs, usually until they are about 15 grams it's a hit and miss for them, simply fold a piece of paper towel and put the prey item on it and leave it overnight
