    Funny BP Stories

I posted this in my progression thread, but it's so funny, I wanted to share it here, too, as well as read other people's stories.

We're spacing Jeffrey's feedings out a bit to help her slim down, since she's a little chunky.

    Jeffrey doesn't like this plan.

So she's mad at us and acting super hungry.

Cleaning her cage is my 8yo daughter's job, but because Jeffrey is being obnoxious, the Spawn was intimidated. So, even though I was still eating my omelet, I told Spawn to hand Jeffrey to me, and I'd hold her while she cleaned the cage.

So I was eating with my right hand, and Jeffrey was wrapped around my left wrist. I was just eating and chatting with Darling Husband, not paying attention to Jeffrey. So I didn't notice her winding up.

Until she suddenly launched herself toward my fork.

It was so sudden, so fast, it scared the crap out of DH (who doesn't dislike snakes, but isn't super comfortable with them) and he jumped out of his chair.

Luckily Jeffrey missed. And I immediately set my fork down and covered her head, making her ball up.

But it was the funniest thing. I couldn't stop laughing.

She's always had a strong feeding response, but she'd never done anything like that. I mean, obviously, her heat pits could pick up the temperature of the omelet and she could smell that there was something tasty, but I never imagined she'd actually go after it, especially while I was holding her.

I couldn't believe she'd gone after my food like that.

And it's only been 11 days since her last feeding! We usually feed her every 7-10 days, so it's been a little longer than she's used to, but it's not like she's starving, by any stretch of the imagination.

I just thought that was beyond hilarious.

And it makes me think of the other funny things my snakes have done over the years. They really do have their own little personalities, and sometimes those personalities are larger than life.

I'd love to hear other people's funny or cute or memorable stories about their snakes. There's so much to love about these little guys, and I feel like, especially with current events being what they are, it could be nice to stop and think about the more awesome aspects of our scaly pets.

So please share any stories you have! I want to read them!
