I'm looking for longer tongs now. I didn't mention that it was also the first day I've ever been bitten twice. The scrub tagged me on the leg earlier the same day when I took him out to clean his cage. It didn't even break the skin so no harm no foul. The experience with the carpet made me think about feeding a 10-12' scrub or olive python and making sure I'm more mindful going forward.

Man Ziggy....glad to hear your ok! That must of really got your heart beating fast. I guess we need things like this to wake us up and remind us to be alert at all times around these creatures. I've gotten a little lax myself around my snakes during the daytime but once those lights go off, my BOA knows it's 'hunting' time and I take precaution

Oh man, that’s brutal! But he didn’t even break the skin?! He was bluffing because he likes you You’ll appreciate this...haven’t posted about it anywhere because I feel bad. But a director friend asked if he could shoot Apophis for something. I brought all the supplies...gloves, hook, spray bottle. He’s being a perfect gentleman, aside from getting tangled in the camera... tolerates being poked, blinded, positioned for a full hour. After we wrap, my friend asked to hold him and I thought, “sure, of course.” Apophis slithered right up and nonchalantly chomped him!!! I was mortified and pulled him off, but raked my finger against those teeth. Dear LORD, why are they so long?!?
