Re: NERD (New England Reptile Distributors) *negative*
February 28th results received that a symptomatic snake tested positive via Veterinary Molecular Diagnostics. Entire collection tested May 9th. Only the NERD snakes tested positive.
That weekend they were relocated outside of my home into someone else's short term care where they remain away from any other snakes.
We continued to re-test in April.
As supported by Jeremy in the text above we remained in contact throughout these months. He was notified of the initial diagnosis and later notified of deaths. You should not find any large contradictions in the timelines but they may differ by a day or two: I was not contacting him "in real time second by second" from the vet's office, for example.
Another complete collection round is planned in two weeks.
On what date did the snake you bought off Freedom Breeder test positive, and why haven't you mentioned anything about it.

Would be curious to know about the Freedom Breeder snake as well.
We have (2) recently acquired proven breeders from NERD. We will be testing them through multiple sources as I'm curious about the accuracy of one testing company vs another.
On an unrelated note, I would like to know how you got 5 proven breeders for $1500 from NERD. We paid more than half that for 2. 😳

You could have just as easily paid 20x that for a single animal, depending on the genes involved.

Oh definitely! I'm just shocked NERD was selling anything that cheap. 🤷

Sometimes it helps to ask yourself "why?"

What I'm saying is that possibly they knew more than they're saying...or at least had suspicions.
And I'm not trying to badmouth them, I've had no dealings with them...& for all we know, maybe they wanted to make a sale just based
on the current economy too? But it just makes me suspicious when prices are "too low".

True! I messaged the OP and talked to him for quite a while tonight and I'm definitely suspicious of 1) The snakes they sold him (never known them to sell normals) and 2) The prices they sold them at. Visual pieds, het pied, black pastel, calico and a normal. All adult/proven for $1500. Granting you I have no first hand information about his situation, just that our het pieds we just bought from NERD were substantially more expensive. Yes, makes you wonder why his were so cheap. Anyway, I'll update after we get our test results. Hopefully late this week or early next.

Wanted to come back with an update since I said I would. Our NERD females were tested for Nido Virus and are negative. Hope this helps anyone trying to make a decision down the road.
