If you place the RHP all the way over to the hot spot side you may have a slight gradient on the cool side but that will depend on how much room is not taken up by the unit on the cool side. I have 80w RHP in a 3'x2'x18" and I think it's a bit over powered but that just means I'm not over using it and it should last a long time.
