Ha, love the article. As a former keeper of rattlesnakes (for 20 safe years), I'm already aware of the "ballast" theory & it makes total sense, especially if you've ever
seen a baby rattlesnake strike out & because it's so lightweight it ends up doing some accidental tumbling, whereas the larger they grow, the more stability, control &
power they pack in their strikes, increasing their accuracy & therefore their success & survival. Who knew?![]()
