You can get a very damp , rough textured towel/cloth and wrap the snake up on it ( over your lap ) let the snake wriggle around inside .. when it’s head pops out simply recover it with the towel again ... the ‘trick’ is to keep applying very , very gentle pressure to the head region and normally the retained eye cap will come off on the towel/cloth .

This method works a treat for removing stubborn skin as well
