There is a difference between failure to thrive and non-eaters. I think they probably meant non-eaters--and as such they needed to be assist/force fed to be kept alive initially. Some people don't have the nerve to assist/force feed and can suffer huge losses... I usually find non-eaters to group up in certain clutches--I'm sure there is a genetic element, but, it seems unrelated to a particular morph.
