Tokays used to be exclusively a wild caught item in the pet trade and their attitude certainly reflected it. Most of them were about as nasty as they come. Today is a different story. There are a wide variety of pretty calm specimens available. You have to remember though that they are a high octane predatory creature that is also low on the food chain themselves. LOL.

And that's the same reason that various rat snakes had such bad reputations for so many years- the pet stores started off by selling wild-caught specimens. Can't blame the terrified herps, that's for sure. And the stress & parasite loads they came with didn't help either. If I didn't already have "enough" pets, I'd get another Tokay, c/b for sure.
