...My only caution is that if we do that, people should be sure that they know the group and that they make sure before they post the info that it is truly a rescue group. I've run into a couple of people who claimed to do rescue but were actually animal hoarders.

I know, I agree. There's always that risk unfortunately, so it should be verified by people locally that really "know", before adding the rescue to the list.
