Scale rot?
We were given a ball python yesterday and I noticed under its belly it had unhealthy looking brown scales. This is only my second snake I’ve owned so I’m unsure what scale rot exactly looks like. I’m 90% sure that’s what this is, but please correct me if I’m wrong? I googled everything I could about it, I read a betadine bath is the way to go treating it if it’s mild. Is this considered a mild case or is this considered a vet trip necessary case? Right now I’m going to continue with the 2x a day betadine bath and Neosporin that I’ve read I should do, but please correct me if I can treat this better or if it’s too far along to not seek professional care.

We aren't seeing it, so it's impossible to evaluate your snake...other than avoid Neosporin for anything other than limited temporary first aid of minor injuries, as it has
a petroleum jelly base which can cause scale/shedding issues (bad sheds & scales de-laminating). Betadine is safe to use on snakes, but a better antiseptic is Vetericyn-
Petco & some other pet stores carry it, or you can buy from Amazon. It's a water-based topical antiseptic get that's MADE for use on snakes/reptiles.

Does the link work for viewing? I’m on my phone trying to load a picture, but it doesn’t seem to be working. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0yHm...aLw#Travis_Afb

Hard to tell what the issue is you're treating...that looks like lots of staining from Betadine. (< a drawback of using it) Any "before" pics?

Re: Scale rot?
Sadly I don’t. We just pulled him out to take a picture though, maybe this one is better. Also behind his head is a worry too. It looks almost like a dirt stain, but I’m assuming it could also be part of the scale rot?
