My bet is it's a rat snake. And buy the looks of it he/she's in blue.

Looks like it might be a coachwhip? In some areas (where I used to live in CA) they're pinkish to faded red on top, brighter pink ventral, but in other areas may be
plainer brown-tan colors, or even black. They easily get 5-6' as adults, long & slender like this...good snakes, harmless...not constrictors, they gulp down whatever
they can subdue (small rodents, insects, reptiles, birds/eggs)...basically a racer-type snake, fast & hyper, not happy in captivity. Diurnal, sun- & heat tolerant.
It could be a rat snake, except the scales really look like coachwhip scales to me...they got the name for looking like a braided rope.

Looks like a coachwhip to me too. But I’m not the best guesser. But the scales and thin body definitely makes me think that

 Leave wild snakes alone unless absolutely necessary...we all need them to survive & they don't belong to "Mr. Finders Keepers".
They have enough to deal with already in terms of survival (native predators & loose pets, habitat loss, climate issues, contamination
of habitat, etc) & they don't need to be harassed or captured by us...coachwhips make lousy pets anyway. They're sun & freedom-
loving souls, they need lots of space.

It was a joke! I don't want wild caught animals.
I do want a coachwhip though; I have read about their temperament.
