Congrats of your first kayak! If you like nature at all you'll get more chances to see it in a quieter, lighter boat. Get a comfortable PFD (lifejacket) so you don't mind wearing it. I kayak, too, and the coolest thing I've caught a quick glimpse of was a bobcat. I hope you have lots of fun and discover an awesome new hobby.
