    Congratulations. Welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of snake keeping.

    That behavior sounds perfectly normal. Being a nocturnal animal BPs will hide most of the day and only explore at night. Nothing at all to worry about.

    As for humidity, Aspen unfortunately stinks for holding humidity. You may want to use a different substrate. I use a blend of Eco Earth and ReptiBark. It holds humidity well, spot cleans easy, absorbs odor and looks naturalistic.
    Any of the coco coir substrates will be better than Aspen.

    Is your UTH regulated by a thermostat??? EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

    Also, how and where are you measuring your temps?
