Next size up (in U.S.) is a "hopper" (aka "popcorn") very bouncy young mice w/ eyes OPEN, and THEN a "small" (fully weaned) mouse, & so on. > > >
Corn snakes can take a while to progress, they often start out very tiny, & it takes a long time before they're big enough to up-size prey. I'd treat yours as an
individual, don't worry about what other snakes are eating, offer the right size food for YOUR snake, & his growth will progress just fine...nothing wrong with "slow-grown". You scared me when you said "small rat"!![]()
