    I use 4 thermostats/room.

    2 thermostats (VE's set for the same temp.) for ambient. 1 thermostat controls half the heat sources (same wattage), the other controls the other half of the heat sources (same wattage).
    Two thermostats instead of one for redundancy in case one malfunctions and cuts out (has not happened).

    1 VE Thermostat to control small UTH's of same wattage (100+ daisy chain)
    1 VE Thermostat to control medium UTH's of same wattage (50+ daisy chain)

    Works like a charm.

    Edit: Hatchlings won't like being in larger enclosures--I'm sure you can clutter it up, but, it would probably just be easier to use small bins temporarily.
