Taking temps VE-6
OK so everyone that has a VE-6 how do u monitor internal tub temps? The fit for the tubs is so tight its next to impossible to get a probe in there. Would some of you mind posting pics or something?

I should specify I am talking about in the tub on top of the heat tape in the back.

Most rack owner do not have thermometer in their tubs they use a temp gun and get daily random reading.

Re: Taking temps VE-6
For hot spot, I just use a temp gun, like Deb says.
But for the middle tub of each rack, I have a remote indoor/outdoor thermometer. The kind with 1 piece you put outside and one piece you put inside the house, no probe, and can display the outdoor temp and indoor temp together. I just use it to keep an eye on ambient temps in the tub and outside the rack itself.
I don't think it would be effective for a hot spot and is easily moved by a snake. Mine tends to get shuffled around the cool side of the tub, but does its job just fine. I do check it with a temp gun to make sure I have its baseline if it is off at all from the temp gun.
This is the one I use:

OK so with the VE6, to take the temp I would open the tub enough to put my hand in, and then try to measure the temp on the hot side? I ask cause theres no opening for me to take the temp in the hotspot.

I believe there is a version of the one I linked that does humidity; last I saw it was in the same product listing. I think that one measures the outdoor tenp/humidity and not the indoor where the display piece is. Haven't looked at it in a while though.
